Many are still confused over the convoluted laws regarding CBD. But this recent incident now has Florida residents baffled and angry.

A family trip to Disney World came to a halt when a great-grandmother was arrested for carrying CBD oil was arrested at a Disney World checkpoint. An Orange County Deputy found CBD oil in her purse.

A 69-year-old woman has been suffering from arthritis pain when her doctor recommended CBD Oil. She even had a note from the medical professional in her purse at the time of arrest, but it didn’t matter. She then spent 12 hours behind bars before being released on a $2,000 bond.

Morgan Sung with Mashable reported, “according to the arrest report, the security guard who spotted the CBD oil notified a nearby police officer, who tested the tincture. He said the tincture tested positive for THC and arrested Burkhalter. The charges were later dropped.

According to  Michael Hollan at Fox News , “Despite the fact that it’s sold on store shelves across the state, CBD oil is still technically illegal in the state of Florida (unless the user has a prescription). This has created a confusing situation in the Sunshine State.

Jennifer Synnamon, a Florida attorney, told Fox 35, “‘a little drop of oil, with the CBD, is a felony. Meanwhile, you can have up to 19.9 grams of leaf-marijuana, and it’s a first-degree misdemeanor.’”

Hester Jordan Burkhalter, the great-grandmother from North Carolina, said she had been planning this trip for two years, only for it to be ruined over federal laws not keeping up with the states.
