Did you know CBD oil can be incorporated into your favorite savory dishes and sweet treats? Are you looking to take your CBD oil to the next level? Not only is cooking with CBD more tasty, but it’s also more fun!
I’ve gathered 6 tips and tricks to help you get started cooking with CBD along with two of my favorite recipes.
A Brief Intro
Cooking with CBD oil is easier than you think. CBD comes in many forms (isolates, pills, gummies…the list goes on…), but the best forms for cooking and baking are oil and tinctures because you can customize the dosage more easily.
According to the Ministry of Hemp, CBD oil needs to be infused with a fat or oil before using (think butter or coconut oil). You could also used alcoholic spirits, such as vodka, rum, or whisky, because they are not water-based.
Now for the tips and tricks!
- Temperature Matters
While warming the oil can increase the oil’s effectiveness, higher temps can cause damage to the oil’s active components. Do not cook the oil over direct heat, and keep in mind that evaporation occurs at temperatures higher than 320-356 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Less is More
Use smaller serving sizes when first starting out cooking with CBD oil. This will help you learn how a serving size effects taste (smaller serving size = less likelihood of bitter taste).
- Proper Storage
CBD oils like to be stored in a cool, dark place. Cannabinoids are sensitive to heat and light, so storing them in cool, darker places will prevent degradation of potency and quality
